The Vice President, Ibusa Association, USA
Mr. Ashimedua Obata

Mr. Ashimedua M. Obata
Vice President Ibusa Association USA. Inc
I am from Umueke, in Ibusa town. I am a very dedicated
member of the Ibusa Association USA Inc. I have been a
member of the Ibusa Association, Atlanta chapter, from its
existence sixteen (16) years ago. Twelve (12) of those years,
I served as the secretary to the chapter. During six (6) of
those years, I was concurrently the Secretary General of the
Ibusa National Association USA Inc. I have served four (4)
presidents of the Atlanta Chapter, with a combined service of
almost 12 years (two terms of two years each). Currently, I
am the president of the Ibusa Association USA, Atlanta
chapter.
Nationally, my journey started in 2000, when I was first
elected to the position of the Secretary General of Ibusa
Association. I took my years of experience with the Atlanta
chapter into the National arena. I have served three (3)
National presidents and on the road to serving a fourth.
Some of my contributions to the Ibusa National
Association USA, Inc. The process of submitting a profile to
a committee before the National convention was a suggestion
I made to Dr. Caesar Adigwe, a former notable president of
the Association. The first thing I did when I was elected
Secretary General of the Association was to bring stability to
the office. The Association did not have any sitting secretary,
when I took office in 2000.
Creating a recognizable symbol for the Association: I
took the Green and white logo that was handed over to me by
Dr. Caesar Adigwe, and I made an official letterhead and
envelope that is now used by the Association today. After the
constitution was amended and adopted in New York, I took
out the guesswork by putting it on paper. Pulling it together
with the original constitution and decorating it with the green
and white symbol of the Association. Copies where
distributed to those who came to the California fundraiser.
With this backdrop, the Association now has one official
copy of the constitution, instead of the three or four different
versions of the constitution that were being floated around.
Personally, I have spent my own money to pay for all the
documents printed, photocopies made, folders, initial
conference calling time, and monthly payment for the hosting
of the official website.
Through my hard work, the executives of the National
Association were able to communicate better with the chapter
presidents, through conference calling. I was the first
secretary general to introduce a central conference calling
system used by the National Association.
I was the first secretary general to prepare the agenda in
advance before the day of any meeting. Traditionally the
agenda was made the night before the convention. This
process was very labor intensive, and made everybody tied
and late for the actual convention meeting the next day. The
minutes were made on time, and copies of the minutes were
made available to members either through e-mail or as hard
copies. Also, there was a National directory created by me.
Website Presence: When the Association needed a website
presence, I stepped up to the plate. I commissioned my wife
Linda Obata to design one, which was later taken over by my
cousin, Boni Nwukor. Everybody can see that Boni Nwukor
and Linda Obata have done a marvelous job with the official
website of the Ibusa Association.

Family: I have been married to a wonderful woman, Mrs.
Linda Obata, for the past 23 years. We have four (4) children.
Ngozi (23 years), Adimabua (18 years), Ugochukwu (13
years), and Nkemakunam (11 years). My wife, Linda was the
first secretary of the Ibusa Association, Atlanta Chapter. The
Ibusa Association and the people of Ibusa to us, is a family
love affairs.
Thank you and God Bless the people of Ibusa.
